The God of America

Politics in America has long ceased to be normal. It is not a battle between two parties with plans for the economy or healthcare. No, it has become a show in which one man defies all laws and portrays himself as the great savior of the country. Donald Trump does not govern because he has such a good program, but because his followers worship him blindly.

Criticists have been screaming bloody murder about his policies for years. They warn that the enormous national debt is destroying the country’s future, that his trade wars are ruining the economy, and that he completely ignores the climate. They attack him on the harsh deportations at the border, his quarrels with the media, and the fact that he puts his cronies in important government positions. But no matter how loud those critics shout, they often miss the real story. If you want to understand how Trump really works, you have to look at how he treats the LGBTQ+ community. That is where you see his true face.

The LGBTQ+ Swap: From New York Friend to Harsh Approach

How Trump views the LGBTQ+ community reveals exactly how he conducts politics. In the past, when he was still a wealthy real estate mogul in the free New York of the 80s and 90s, someone’s sexual orientation meant the least to him. He worked with openly gay designers, stylists, and business partners. He never made a fuss about it and even said at the time that gays simply needed to be protected from discrimination in the workplace. Even when he first entered politics, he was still cheerfully waving a rainbow flag. He thought homosexuality was fine; it was part of his Amsterdam-style New York life.

But look at his policies now. Under his administration, the transgender community has become the absolute target. Trump banned transgender people from the military, scrapped rules that protected them in healthcare, and revoked guidelines for trans students. And now he is going even further: he wants to enshrine in law that your sex is purely biological and that you may never tamper with that again. He would prefer to make gender care for minors a hard-nosed criminal offense. To the people this affects, it feels like a targeted, hateful crusade. But believe me, it is not hate or ideology. It is just a business deal.

A Completely Missing Compass

The biggest mistake people make is thinking that Trump has become a deeply religious, super-conservative man. In fact, Trump has no ideological compass at all. He does not deeply believe in a particular morality or a holy book. Where a true conservative politician acts from his faith, Trump acts from one thing: opportunism. What will give me the most power right now? That is his only compass.

When Trump wanted to become president, he knew that he desperately needed the millions of votes from the devout, evangelical Christians. And that base demanded a tough approach to everything related to ‘woke’ or progressive. So Trump struck a deal. You vote for me, and I give you the policies and conservative judges you want.

His harsh attack on the transgender community is purely the bargaining chip for that deal. His campaign managers saw that this theme whips up the base enormously and drives them to the polls. And because Trump himself has no moral objections anyway, it costs him no effort to throw his old, tolerant New York positions in the trash. He betrays his own past without batting an eye, purely because this new course keeps him in the saddle. To him, the LGBTQ+ community is not an enemy, but simply a political leverage tool.

The New God and the Demolition of Democracy

This complete lack of principles has led to a life-threatening situation. Because he adheres to no party rule or constitution, Trump has become bigger than politics itself. He has gotten his base to the point where they believe in only him. Trump is no longer a president; He is emerging as the ‘God of America’, an infallible leader whose will is law.

And that messiah complex is destroying American democracy. A free country can only exist if we all follow the rules, respect the courts, and accept the outcome of elections. But Trump kicks against everything. He calls the free press “the enemy of the people,” attacks judges who do not please him, stirs things up when he loses elections, and replaces independent officials with yes-men. He is tearing down the entire system brick by brick.

Once a politician is worshipped like a God, normal conversation stops. Criticism of him is suddenly blasphemy, laws are seen as an act of obstruction by opponents, and the leader stands above everything. The man without a compass has crowned himself the highest power. And the price America pays for this? That is the slow but certain end of their own democracy.
