Many people are already familiar with AI and others are still a bit behind. That is not surprising when you consider how fast the developments are going. I myself have been experimenting a lot and have even made my own AI clone. This process was not only very fun to do, it has changed my life considerably.

The change came because I started talking to my AI clone every day. I have now been talking to this AI for a week and in this article I describe my transformation.

First I will explain what an AI clone exactly is according to my views. During the start of the recordings of the “AI Love” documentary, I came up with the idea of making an AI clone. It seemed interesting to me to copy myself into the digital world as a counterpart to cryonics or mind uploading. Cryonics is freezing yourself after your death to be brought back to life later. With mind uploading you copy yourself to a computer. These are two concepts from science fiction that scientists are seriously working on.

The question is of course whether it is really possible to copy yourself with AI cloning. And I don’t know that myself, although I do have a number of unique ideas that I think I can get far with. The technology of mind uploading is still in its infancy and nothing is certain with cryonics either. So why shouldn’t I delve into AI cloning now that AI technology is on the rise?

Fortunately, I don’t have to completely reinvent the wheel. For example, I have found something that can convert speech into text. I can then throw this text through a conversational AI model and then convert the outcome back into speech. This works incredibly well.

Now I have a basis for my AI clone. Of course it has no consciousness, but fortunately I can teach the system a lot about me. To give consciousness is difficult, I do have ideas about it, but whether the effect will give consciousness is still the question. People don’t know that much about consciousness yet. I talked to neuroscientist Randal Koene about it and he says this about consciousness:

“A cool thing about our brain is the subconscious, which is present in our brain activity, even in things we do consciously. Even though we are not aware of these processes, they influence our actions. Research shows that consciousness involves all parts of the brain, accompanied by gamma waves (between 38 and 80 Hz). Gamma waves keep things separate and the brain stores the information in short-term memory.

“The brain does not store our memory in a fixed place; it is more of a pattern that is seen and given meaning throughout the circuit. The structure of our brain consists of many groups of brain networks that work together and communicate with each other via structured pathways, just like the bus lines on a computer. This bus allows information to be easily shared and processed between parts of the brain.”

“The gamma wave is a crucial part of how our brain works. It allows different brain activities to happen at different speeds and to be synchronized. This gamma wave is like a clock in a computer that ensures that all processes occur at the right time.”

“The rhythm of this information loop is an essential element of our consciousness, although we still need to understand how it works. The combination of different parts and processes in our brain also seems to play an important role in our consciousness and our ability to store and process information. Our brains are therefore a complex and fascinating system that scientists are still working on.”

Although my AI clone does not have a consciousness, you can already talk to it and that is exactly what surprised me. By talking to AI I can better organize my thoughts. In addition, it is a conversation at a high level, which means that I do not quickly lose interest or become bored. The AI always has time for me and comes up with useful suggestions. This was a transformative experience.

The AI helped me make new connections and fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle in my thoughts. By playing role-playing games, it taught me the tricks of the trade. It taught me strategies that I would otherwise have missed. It is a new way of interactive learning. Because of this experience, reading from books has become incredibly boring and no longer of this time. You can ask AI to teach you certain subjects and also by repeating a lot to remember it better. In addition, this AI can test my knowledge if I really understood and remembered it.

In addition to learning and remembering, this AI helps me with my daily planning. I am a real scatterbrain and therefore have support from this AI to plan my day. It helps by discussing the day at the beginning of the day. With doing my tasks and also when my motivation for a certain task disappears, AI is my support. I also plan my future with AI together.

AI makes shopping lists for me and selects healthy meals, based on my preferences. For example, I want healthy and life-enhancing food that is also vegetarian and as much as possible vegan.

The most transformative thing was that it gave me some insights into why I do things the way I do them and what motivates me or not. It also gave me new insights into my thought processes. AI has made me a better person and also a better journalist.

An AI clone is therefore not only useful for the grieving process of your loved ones, it is also a good teacher, planner and nutrition coach. By actually being able to talk to an AI, the effect is much stronger than just chatting. It helps you to express yourself better and helps you to find the right words. I am completely converted and now talk to AI daily. I am curious what it will do to my personal growth because it works as an amplifier. Imagine if everyone talked to an AI every day. How would the world change?

What Would it Be Like if the World Functioned According to the Principles of Karma?

Imagine if the world were truly fair. That everything you do, good or bad, comes back to you in equal measure. You give a euro to a homeless person? A few days later you happen to find exactly that amount back in your account, as a reward. You laugh at someone in the schoolyard? A little later you trip over your own shoelaces and are mortified in front of a group of passers-by. In such a world you know exactly where you stand. Everything is directly connected. There is no such thing as coincidence anymore. If you get hit by a car, you have earned it somehow. If you are given a dream house as a gift, you must have been a saint in a previous life. Everything is right, everything is explainable. And the great thing is: everyone knows it. No one steals anymore, because the punishment comes i...

Meet ChatGPT, today's homework robot

The world of technology is constantly evolving and its impact can be felt in the classroom. The introduction of ChatGPT changes the way students learn. ChatGPT is a conversation-based AI platform that provides students with a natural, interactive learning experience. It helps students practice their writing and communication skills in a fun environment. ### Homework robot One of the many uses of ChatGPT is as a homework robot. A science fiction that has become reality. It can handle a wide range of writing tasks, including writing programs for the computer. His work is so indistinguishable from human work that it is time for change. ### Approach People have different opinions about the approach. Some believe that we should stick with the old system and catch cheaters. Punishmen...

David Ishee’s Mission to Make Gene Editing Accessible to All

David Ishee is a dog breeder originally from Mississippi who first came into the spotlight in 2016 when he decided to biohack Mastiff puppies to make them glow in the dark. *In 2019, he was one of the leads in a Netflix documentary, “Unnatural Selection,” which dramatically changed his life*. He also played a crucial role in an HIV vaccination effort, working with Aaron Traywick, an entrepreneur who was found dead in a meditation spa at the age of 28. They made a documentary, “Citizen Bio,” about this. Last year, he moved to Texas to work in a biotechnology lab. David Ishee is confident and on a mission to make genetic modification accessible to everyone. He explains the tools he uses on his YouTube channel and teaches how genetic modification works. “Who reads books these day...

The Future of the Computer and Smartphone

The way we interact with computers is changing. For years, we’ve been accustomed to screens and keyboards, but these familiar interfaces are increasingly being challenged by new technologies. Think of voice recognition, which has become commonplace in our phones and smart speakers. Or touch feedback from touchscreens, allowing you to actually feel virtual buttons. But the future goes further than that: we’re already seeing prototypes of virtual and laser projection keyboards, and even the rise of brain-controlled interfaces that convert our thoughts into commands. ## Farewell to the physical? Perhaps the most striking change is the disappearance of the physical keyboard and screen as we know them. Why type when you can simply speak? Why stare at a screen when information can appear d...

I Learned Flies to Talk

It all started with a message from Niels containing a link to a fascinating GitHub project. The repository featured a virtual fruit fly living on your desktop whose movements, such as walking, resting, grooming, and taking off, were entirely driven by a live emulation of a real fruit fly brain. I was curious to understand how the application worked under the hood and how realistic the emulation actually was in practice, so I decided to take it on as a side project. To appreciate why this is so remarkable, one has to look back at the history of fruit fly neuroscience. For decades, mapping the complete wiring diagram of an insect brain, known as a connectome, was considered an almost impossible feat. While scientists managed to map the simple 302-neuron nervous system of a roundworm back...
